Who is Polyco?

Polyco is South Africa's largest Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) dedicated to plastics recycling. Their focus is on increasing the collection and recycling of plastic packaging, promoting its responsible use and reuse, and eliminating plastic waste from the environment.

What was the ask?

As a strategic creative partner of Polyco, we conceptualised and ran the initial 2022 campaign which did really well, but when we came back in 2023 for V2 we exceeded all expectations!

Our continued partnership with the mother brand Polyco and our success from the previous years meant that for 2024 the bar was high - and we needed to clear it

How we delivered:

In the third instalment with our hero kids, we went back to the source, we went back to school. As the last pillar in communication strategy (home / work / school) we took our conquering heroes to the halls where they were famous, they were the leaders and they had the sway of the crowd!

We created a single hero piece of video content that spoke to the previous campaigns and how well they had done, but there is always room for improvement - we can always (and need to continually) do better.

Our aim was to not only remind the adults out there that they need to help the kids with the recycling situation but also to get each and every kid out there to see how easy it can be to recycle - and with Polyco’s help they could do it at school.

Our results were based on engagement and video views, and the results were in…

V3, the climax of the trilogy of ‘Return the Favour’ was a hit!

We recorded not only good video views across our channels but a majority 75% to complete video views - which is truly amazing in this attention-grabbing social media society we live in today.

What’s next for Million Plus Recyclers?

As we said before, we can always do better and if engaging the public was our first goal, we nailed that. Now, we need to really drive them to action…

So we planted the seed of #1Person1Piece - a call to action to highlight that if everyone even just does a little bit of recycling, just does 1 piece of plastic consistently, then we’re making change.

Because even one piece makes a difference, especially when a million people do it.
